3VZE NOT reaching operating temp
hi all,
i recently replaced my 92 pickups engine with another 3.slow that has around 40k miles on it. Ever sense i cant seem to get my temp up to the normal range. The heater in the cabin blows out air that is kinda warm, but not as hot as it used to be. This leads me to think that it could simply be a thermostat problem, but i cant help but to think i just forgot to hook up something up, or did it wrong, or maybe forgot to hook up a sensor somewhere or a bad ground? Maybe one of those thousands of vacuum lines got plugged into the wrong spot? My engine might be running kind of hard at idle also, its hard for me to tell cuz i removed the cat in the process of the motor swap. I should probably start by testing the thermostat but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is the thermostat the correct temp and installed correctly? Are you using the temp gauge to judge the temp, or the heater air temp? Are the radiator hoses warm or hot when it's warmed up?
Did you burp the cooling system? If not, remove the radiator cap and run the truck until it's well warmed up.
I can't imagine a sensor or bad ground or your cat would have anything to do with this, my concern is the engine has a airlock somewhere in the cooling system and you are not getting heating in the cabin but overheating within the engine.

The thermostat was already in the engine that i swapped in, so guess theres a chance that someone else installed it incorrectly. Im using the gauge to judge the temp, as well as noticing that the heater isnt as warm as it should be. The radiator hose was warm if my memory serves me correctly. I havent burped the system, ill give that a try... Thanks!
I was just thinking, could it be a possibility that as this engine was sitting in storage somewhere that the thermostat may have become rusted or corroded due to not being surrounded in coolant for awhile? just a thought...
