3rd gen 4runner. Deckplate & Weird thing inside.

Hi. Getting right to things. I think I have the deckplate mod done when I bought my runner about 2 weeks ago. If this does mean I have it done, to increase my power I just take the circular thing out and leave it in my truck or what?
Also what is the thing next to my rear view mirror? does it hold something?
I think it will upload upside down or sideways. uploading hasn't been very friendly to me.

Deckplate?

Along with the ISR mod it makes a nice noise.

That other thing is a......garage door opener holder??? Mine doesn't fit there. The hubby likes to put odd receipts in it when we're on trips, to surprise me with random paper showers when I open it.

I'll get on that! So that is the deckplate mod? That's cool that I bought it with that! And leaving that circle out doesn't hurt anything at all?

Yep, that's the deckplate mod. I close mine in really sandy/dusty conditions or really wet ones. Did they leave you some sort of cleanable air filter (I have a tru-flow which I clean, oil lightly and re-use)?

They didn't even mention that there was a deckplate. I just took my mechanic with me and he said everything was good and I got it. Any reusable air filter will be better than disposable ones for the deckplate?

What air filter do you run? Do you like it?

I don't think so, other than cost. I went with the True-flow for both trucks because of cost over the 96's paper version and others' reviews of the filter. The 99 had a K&N from the previous owner that he over-oiled and got the MAF dirty which caused hesitation and an intermittent code. One cleaned MAF and goodbye K&N and all is good. MY filters are 7 well cared for years old and still going.

Glasses case

The thing behind your rear view mirror is also a glasses case.

Don't forget to put your deckplate on if it's raining heavily, or super dusty.
