Howdy, just bought an 88 pickup with the 3.0

Now, I want a cold air intake but I can't find any for my year. I looked around and found some for 1988-1995 pickup/4Runners but that's the newer body style than the one I have. Will these intakes work/fit fine in my truck?

 

The 3.0 is already a cold air intake. Sucks it from right behind the drivers headlings. Most dont see major or any improvements (other than noise) from a 3.0 intake.

If you must, at least look up the ISR, Intake Silencer Removal mod Or swapping to a camry AFM. Search, there are MANY threads on both of those topics.

If you really want to help your 3.0 best thing you can do is headers.

 

I'm really not looking for the extra power. Not sure why the 3.0 gets such a bad wrap. It has way more power than my 1989 p/u 22re or my 1987 2wd 22r. And with the 5 speed it's way better than my 1989 4Runner 3.0 auto.

I want it for the sound and engine dress up. Cause when this 3.0 blows and I'm done with college a 3.4 is going in.

I'd build my 3o up but it's ready to go. Heads are leaking, motor ticks, kinda idles funny. Tomorrow I'm doing cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Flush diffs, oil change, throttle cleaning, and some dump in injector cleaning. Hope that gives some life to my 3.0
