3.0 Help

Hey everyone, i just bought an 89 XtraCab with the 3.0. The truck starts up fine but it has little power and and runs very rough after that. I'm thinking that it might be the 02 sensor/fuel filter/clogged cat?? It has 154,xxx miles on it. I just wanted to see what you guys had to say about it and see if i'm looking in the right direction. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Start with the easy stuff - timing, plugs, wires, cap, rotor. I have had good results from Seafoam in making mine run smoother. If you don't know the previous owner or get maintenance records, I would do all that plus change all the fluids just to know where you're starting from.
NOTE: Do NOT use Bosch plugs or wires. Only NGK or Denso.

Are you getting a CEL? (Note: bad O2 sensor doesn't always throw a CEL)

This may help:

The FSM gives the procedure for shorting the diagnostic plug under the hood and reading the codes.
