2nd gen 4runners and weight

So i heard from people that down sizing tires and removing things like roof racks and running boards will make your truck lighter and improve fuel economy. I know fuel economy will never be stellar with a truck,

but what would happen if you took off everything like the spare tire, big metal bumpers, roof rack, running boards, and down sized your tires?

would you see improvement with fuel economy or would it not even really phase it?

Your joking right?

You'd have one retarded looking truck that's what would happen. If you are THAT worried about fuel mileage then sell your truck and go get a hybrid.

In light that you did post this in the newbie section I'll try and help I guess. When I put on my roofrack and 33's I only lost about 5 mpg and I got most of that back after regearing. I usually get around 18 on the highway if I drive at reasonable speeds. When I pull my 1500lb trailer I'm down to about 13. So I'm going to say that if you took all that stuff off your truck you might lose maybe a couple hundred pounds... that's not going to make a whole lot difference.

i don't actually own a 4runner (so.cal high school kid, i'd get smoked by gas and faster drivers daily since i have to commute to and fro) so i wouldn't be worried about how retarded it looks, just curious.

thanks for the info
