22rte 4runner stalling in the middle of the freeway, need help
hey guys, had a long time without posting since work and school have kept me out of the world.
i had a weird problem happening, but i will let you know everything that happend.
my dad and i went to a hunting trip up in the sequoia forest, no luck in getting anything BTW. well we where going up thru all the trails on the truck, and everything was working fine during all the weekned. on sunday when we packed everything to leave back home, a small vibration was noticable in the engine, but didn't affect the performance of the 4runner. when we were about to climb the "gravine pass" right before the climb, the truck had a rattling noise, lost immediate power, boost gauge shot up, and as soon as my dad released the throttle, the truck died. the engine just shut down. then we turn it on again, but as soon as the throttle was released it shut down again. after we merged to the side of the freeway, we tried turning it on again and the engine would turn, but with a LOUD screetching noise, and the 4runner would not turn on.
after getting towed home, the next mornining my dad turned on the truck and parked it in the driveway. the truck turned on, but still with the screeching noise.
we took the turbo out, and the turbines are in good condition. no play on the shaft that connects the turbines.
BTW, the noise is kind of a pulley noise, which from thinking, i hope it could be the ac compressor that ceised. but has anyone had this problem? anything similar. or heard of anything like thike this? any help is useful.
thanks.
