22RE Rattle
Here's my prob. I just bought a 93 4x4 pickup and it sounds fine when it's cold, but as soon as it warms up it's making a pinging sound when the throttle's leveled out. I have no tach, but it seems to do it at the same RPM in every gear. It almost sounds like someone dropped a penny in the oil cap and it's just bouncing around, combined with some pinging, like it's overheating, but it never gets hot. Is this just the timing chain dampner, or is it somethin major? I'd appreciate your input.

That noise is normal, I don't know the technical reason why, but it has to do with the quality of gas or something. Someone else help me out and give a better explantion. Just know its normal, I have it in my truck, and my dad had it in his truck before he sold it.

Well this is my 1st experience w/ toyota. It sure doesn't sound normal, but I've heard that rattles and crap are pretty much the norm in 22RE's. Everything works great, nice power, great 4-wheelin, even w/ a/c on. And I'm in AZ w/ all this heat.
