22RE Oil Filter Removal

How do I get to the oil filter to get it off? I have a 1993 4wd pickup w/ a 22RE. Do I have to remove parts from the truck to get to it? I have used the search engine and googled the net but can't find any instructions. My Haynes book just says use a filter wrench and makes no mention of how to get to the oil filter. Thanks. Hopefully this post won't be deleted. Everytime I post something to this forum it gets deleted with in 10 minutes and I don't know why.

There is a small plate you can remove in your wheelwell if you cant reach it from the top.

Yep, 4 bolts hold the access panel in place, might need to remove the wheel well liner first:

I stretch my hand to it when I'm standing in front of the truck, lean over and navigate under the intake manifold.

Mine is super simple having a 22r and no A/C, but is it possible to reach it from the bottom through the IFS? Maybe the skid plate is in the way?

Thanks. I found the flap with the 4 bolts and was able to get the filter off. Good news is my post didn't disappear this time.

Throw your Haynes manual away and get a copy of the FSM. Easy to find with a search.

Anyone remember Big Bad Blue's infamous thread from a while back?

I can't reach mine without taking my tire off. i bought one of those oil filter removal adapters a few weeks ago (FRAM @ Wal-Mart) for about $4 and a nice long 3/8'' drive extension and it took about 2 seconds to take off.
