22RE engine troubles

I need some advice.. I just rebuilt my engine for my 86 4Runner, $700 in new parts only (I got lucky my friend rebuilt it for free). I blew the last one up, ooooopppps!! Here is my issue.. I have the engine in the runner with all electrical connections done, all vaccuum hoses done, timing set... Everything is correct and to specs... It won't stay running... The engine acts like it is starved for fuel..... I have checked and double checked every connection... the injectors are correctly wired in the factory order and they are pulsing.... the sending unit from the tank is fine... it is dumping fuel when I pull the line... so can anyone give me suggestions as to where my issues lie??? I have worn myself to frazzle trying to figure out where the issue is...

Please help!!
Tina

How long does it stay running? Have you checked the sensors? Mass AirFlow?

I am sorry for the delay in the reply. Yes I have fuel at the rail... It will run for maybe 30 seconds and die. It isn't the fuel pump in the tank as far as I can tell... It runs when I turn it on and I have pull the line going into the tank and fuel comes out when I have it on... I have checked fuses with a tester all are okay... I know its something silly but I am at a lose as to what it could be...

Funny, I just got my motor together after head replacement and its doing the exact same thing. LOL. Runs for 30 sec, have to keep gassing it, then it acts like it's out of time and dies. Smells really rich though. If I figure out what my problem is I'll let you know, If you figure out what yours is, post it up. Maybe its the same problem for both of us. Wouldn't that be funny.

the blue beast, she LIVES!!!!!!!
This is what I found... The fuel regulator at the end of the injector rail was bad(rusted), I'm assuming because of sitting for 4 months. after replacing it and then resetting the timing... it started but still acted rough when it ran... and had no power... I pulled the #1 spark plug and almost no fuel... but #4 was flooded.. (hense the no power)... Knowing the problem was now in the injectors( ie: bad regulator pushed nasty gas & rust into injectors...) .. I pulled the rail and replaced it with my spare..... I now have a purring engine!!! It runs like a dream!!!! I drove the truck for the first time in 4 months.... it needs a few minor adjustments but I am a happy camper!!!!!
thanks for the suggestions....

The soilid axle swap is done and I am proud to say that although I had lots of advice, I managed to do the swap myself... moved the axle forward 3& 1/2 inches.. I also went with hy-steer so I ended up moving the gear box.. Bought some really cool gadgets from trail gear to help with clearance issues like the low clearance cross member.. New ALL-Pro 52" springs for the rear & new front springs too.. Trail Gears Long Spline drive shaft for when I REALLY DROP out... Double cases... New disk brakes on the rear.. Shock hoops & long travel shocks... It has taken me quite a while to put it all together but I have learned a GREAT DEAL from the whole experience... I can tell you I haven't had a lot of seat time yet on the trails... It goes for it's debut weekend at The Red RIver Gorge Thanksgiving weekend for our annual turkey run... but so far she handles great!!! AND I don't regret a thing!!!!!
