22R Starter Shims????????

Where can I find starter shims for my 87 22r carb engine?? I am having a great deal of difficulty in finding shims at all the namebrand parts stores. I even went to the local dealer and he scratched his head. My manual states to shim starter to provide clearance between ring gear and starter gear. Mine is touching and needs to be moved out a bit. HELP!!!!

Never mind, I had a machinist cut me a couple. I did more research on this matter and talked to a local import specialist and he never heard of a toyota starter shim and he informed me I had put something together wrong he also stated that toyota just has such a high standard to tolerance that there is no need for shims, put it together and it works every time. I told him I was not Toyota. I went back and verified flywheel/ring gear install. There are only three parts here the flywheel, a thin washer/shim then a thick washer then the bolts. Flywheel only goes on one way, and it is obvious where the washer/shim goes then torque it up (I did reference a manual). Well I guess all the other engine manufacturers fall short because I can find shims a dime a dozen for them. By the way there is a shim offered when you purchase aftermarket off-road/racing flywheel/ring gears. Thanks to those of you that are helping me. Pictures comming soon.
