1997 4runner 5 speed, Surge/Stutter
Hello,
My 1997 5speed 4 runner just started to do this odd surge. I notice it most in 4th gear at about 35-40. I will shift through the gears get up to speed let off gas. When I gently accelerate it surges/stutters like it loses power or slips. I have experienced this surge in all gears but seems that I feel it most in 4th and 5th after reaching speed and then slightly pressing on gas. It is a double pulse/surge then it is gone.
Any ideas? Is this driveline or engine?

check and see if it does the surge at around the same RPMs... also, 3.4 I'm guessing... I had a 3.0 that had the fuel dampener give out and it would surge and drop all power at around 2400 RPM and up.
