1993 nissan pathfinder ,automatic ,3.0

Truck ,was not running well ,started great ,there was a tapping ,and what sounded to me like a missfire also ,maybe a vacume leak are the equivalant , let me say first ,i had just bought the truck (used , )high miles 300,000 miles. ,but got a great deal on it ,n e way , w/lack of funds i was limitted on what i was going to be able to replace ,so i started w/the spark plugs , which were def a problem ,by the overall apperance , that made it run a lil better , then order a throttle body sensore , because after the plugs were replaced , it still had no power when taking off and hesatation shifting into 2nd gr , and would graduly build up speed ,but after it had hit about 45 50 mph it would run like a champ ,w/this being said ,my question now is ,how do i adjust or reprogram the sensore so it will operate as it is suposed to ,or do i have to have it done by a shop
