Angry 1991 toyota pickup v6 4x4

i have a 91 toyota pickup and it stall's when you r at a red light or at a stop sign. The rpm would rev up to 2600-3000 rpm and the truck would pick up slow until something kicks in and it would bounch back to normal. The other thing is when i was on the freeway going 70 mph, my rpm was at 2500. It suddenly jump to 3500 and i had to take my foot off the gas pedal. I try gasing it again and the rpm would still climb up to 3500-3600 rpm. For some weird reason my rpm is jumping and now my car kind of stall picking up sometimes when i'm at the red light or at a stop sign. ANy with this problem before. Please help.

If your stopped in neutral can you move the rpm's smoothly with the gas pedal? Also is the engine throwing any codes? If your dash is loosing signal from the ecu then it could be a broken wire or an ecu might be at fault. Lots of options unfortunately.

Jimmy, make sure your throttle cable isn't stuck or the throttle gunked up. Open your hood and watch the throttle open and close as you press on the gas pedal (you can see through the gap or have a friend do it). Does the throttle snap shut or does it linger or not close at all? If it doesn't snap shut, either the throttle cable needs to be lubricated (disconnect at throttle and the pedal and remove) or the inside of the throttle body needs to be cleaned. Search for how to clean the throttle body for ideas, it's not hard.
