1989 22re wont start
#1
hello, hope you can advise.
I have a 1989 pickup with a 22re engine, 190K miles.
Drove 15 miles to appt today everything fine, checked fuel level at 1/4 tank.
Stopped car for 1 hour, tried to start again and would not start. Fuel gauge pinned all the way left (past E). Other gauges fine. Car turns over fine, sounds like it is going to start but will not run no matter how I pump the gas.
Towed car home now trying to get running again. Dont know if gauge is part of problem but odd that it happens at the same time. To be sure I added 1 gal of gas to make sure fuel was in the tank, no change.
Suggestions?
Good manual to help me trouble shoot this? I bought a chilton at a parts store across the street and found little specific information. Any photos of a 22re to help me find the parts?
Thank you for your time. Art.

I have the same truck well 4runner an 89...

IT was the distibutor cap PICK Up!!!
Test everything for continuity. See where your short is and go from there...
