1984 Toyota Pickup Timing Chain Replacement
I have a 1984 pickup with the 22R motor, has 150,386 miles on the clock. The timing chain has came off, I pulled the valve cover to confirm this. I have read everywhere that the head and oil pan has to be pulled to remove the cover and replace the chain. Is there any other way or is that the only way to do that? Kinda trying to figure if it is worth getting that deep into something that old, it has been a good dependable truck up till now.
Would also like to know if this is an interference motor or not. Will there be any damage to the valves or drivetrain, the chain came off of it when it was running started motor and ran about 20 seconds before it shut down, and yes of course I tried to restart it a couple of times before I figured something was wrong.
