18r-c interchange with 22re?

i have a 90 4x4 pickup with a 22re that needs rebuilding, however i can't afford the down time it needs. A guy i work with has a 74 hi-lux that is far too gone to be road worthy, but it runs excellent. Can i drop that 18r-c into my 90 while i rebuild my 22re? i realize i cant use my fuel injection but i dont mind leaving it carbed either, what do you guys think? BTW the 18r-c is free......thats why i'm considering it.

I don't know if the 18r-c will bolt up with a W56 tranny, but I do know that emissions wise you can't do it as the 18r-c isn't up to 90's emissions standards.
