15 inch rims will fit a 2000 4RUNNER LIMITED?
Hi,
I just bought a 2000 Toyota 4runner Limited and it came with factory 16 inch rims. My (noobie) question is will a set of 15 inch tires (other year factory rims or aftermarket) fit without problems clearing the calipers, etc.?
I just would like to stress the 4runner being a 2000 Limited.
Any pics of owners with the same aftermarket rim size?
Any limitations going to 15? The reason why i am wanting this size is to have more tire size choices.
Thank you.
PS- yes, i did search a bit but did not come with answers.

don't do it dude, I picked up some blackrock 929 series 16x7 and i'm actually selling them to go back to the landcruiser 16x8 aluminum or the lx450 aluminum because once you start putting all this weight on the truck your brakes start to suck.... so when you maintain that size rim especially an aluminum one you can do the tundra brake mod... which is essential when jackin the truck up and loading it down with weight. I would recommend against it

but since yours is a '96 and his is a 2000 would that make a difference cpizzle42??? idk since i dont know much about 3rd gen and later 4runners..i do know that the early tacomas came with 15" rims..so i figured the early 3rd gens did too..which would make a difference lol..
but he's right..grind on your caliper a little and BANGO! you'll fit em!

i'm pretty sure that all 3rd gens(96-02) come with the 16x7 aluminum rim with 4.5in backspacing... and a 6 lug format so they should all be interchangeable. and like others say, grinding calipers and throwing a 15 in wheel on there can work... but the brakes are terrible to begin with so why would you want to make them worse?

I'm asking the same question right now and the answer I'm getting is that if your truck came stock with the 16's, you cant put a 15 on without modification. My door says 15 but the rim is a 16 which is common I guess. It blows because not only are there less tires but they are more expensive as well. I feel your pain. I'm going to go down to Discount to have them fit some wheels, I'll let you know how it goes.

MY 01 4Runner has 15's stock on it. 235/75/R15. Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I was looking to see if there were any compatibility issues between a 1998 4Runner rim and a 2001. I have a friend selling some 98 rims and wanted to make sure to doublecheck. Same size and bolt pattern as far as i can tell.
