ECU needed - 2000 4runner 5spd 4x4 v6 mt federal
Well somehow my ecu got zapped - truck was running like shizat...swapped everything out from a known running engine only to find that nothing worked... So i borrowed an ecu from a friends rig - same part #...and what do you know it runs like new. seeing as toyota wants $1,800 for a new one...im extending a request thru yota-land.....
So now i need this part #:
Toyota ECU 89666-35130 1999 & 2000 federal spec 4runners 5spd 4x4 v6 manual trans
ps...does anyone know if toyota will re-flash existing ecu's?

When I was hunting an ECU, I found one on ebay for $115.
http://www.car-part.com searches junkyards nationwide
O'reilly Auto can probably get you a Cardone Reman for about $400, if you don't find a used one.
I asked my local dealership if they could flash my ECU, they said yes, for $75. I looked a little deeper....the '97 version is not programmable. Ignorant fools.
The 2000 version is likely not programmable either. Just make sure the part # matches on the replacement.

im soo stumped on this problem like ive never been stumped before. So for some reason, the 4runner runs great with an ECU from my 99 cali spec 4runner 5spd 3.4 4x4, but runs like garbage (chuggs, stalls, etc..) on the ecu thats supposed to be in the vehicle which is a 00 federal spec ecu for 5spd 4x4 3.4. which ive tested and the ecu is completly fine.
What is difference between the fed spec and cali spec 4runners besides the 02/afr sensors that could be making these problems?
