Last emailed SMS on april 14th and their response was "still working with it. I don't think much longer."
Sounds good but I cant take them seriously anymore.
So I ordered a yard of the material from the guy on social media and its actually a denim fabric with the stich pattern printed on top.
Damn it if it doesn't look like the real thing!
Wouldn't know it unless you touched it.
Obviously its not the real thing but if anyone is still interested he gave me permission to give out his contact info, just let me know.
Or I have a yard of it in the brown that im not going to use all of.
I'm having my center console armrest reupholstered in it now, supposed to be a month out.
I can post a pic too once I figure out how to do that.

Ok sweet, I am definitely interested in contacting him. I would like to see a pic. Ispecially next to oem vertigo. How I insert my photos on through my phone is above where you type in your text, and below where you can add a title on the 2nd row there is an insert emojis icon then a paper chip icon, then an image icon, and I clicked that and then you can insert pic from device or take a pic if you are using a phone.

Don't mind the wrinkles, I've just had it sitting around.
The shade isn't an exact match and I imagine there's a whole spectrum of sun fade out there.
His paypal is n10ce@aol.com
Found him on instagram "n10ce" and his name is Jeff O.

Wow that looks amazing, I will definitely be getting in contact with him soon so I can get grey, and cover my center console lid also. Thank you so much for being one of the only people to finish a fourm about vertigo replacement.
Edit- I like the new brown definitely better than the old sun faded oem.

Thanks but I'm not closing this one till I get that OE type stitched fabric from SMS, ever that day ever comes haha.
I didnt ask the guy if he had other color options but I bet he could figure it out, super nice dude.
Post pictures when you get it all done. That guy might get some good business from here.

update: SMS says they're done setting up the pattern and are now finishing fabric work, whatever that means.

Last email was in August, they said the pattern was done and were now finalizing the fabric.
Sent another email last week and no response.
I hope I didn't just get lip service for a year cause he usually emails back faster than that.
If I don't hear back this week I will call/email again.

Any pictures of your center console with the SR5 fabric you received from the guy on Instagram? Your sample looks sharp...curious to see how that turned out. Appreciate you keeping everyone updated with SMS recreating the pattern! Thank you

Here is the center console.
Car is under a cover so the lighting isnt too good, picture makes it almost look like a purple hue but its still the same stuff.
Also there is an OEM headrest along with a cover I had made.
I had them make two covers because I sent a perfectly good one in as a sample to SMS. A costly but hopefully worthy sacrifice.
Buuuut...
After ignoring my last email SMS finally responded!
They seamed to be surprised I hadn't received any yardage yet.
Im going to optimistically say this means it's done.
After giving them my address again I am hopeful to have a conclusive update for you guys in the very near future.

Well it finally showed up.
I hate to say this but initially I was a little disappointed.
It thought it looked a little off for some reason.
Maybe the factory corners are a little more "rounded"?
But after holding them side by side and counting the stitches it appears to be the same or off by one stich here or there.
Could they do any better? If they're not side by side could anyone tell the difference?
I'm calling it a win because it is embroidered SR5 "vertigo" after all, nevermind the color is a little off.
What do you guys think?

It looks very good, the color could be a little off because the original is old and probably not clean.

I think the SMS reproduction looks great! Thanks for doing the legwork and seeing this project all the way through...18 months since you started this WTB thread! Tough to tell from the picture, but did they send you a gray sample? Now that you have 2 different samples of the SR5 reproductions, curious which one you'd choose to cover your seats with had you not found an OEM set of tan SR5 vertigo seats? Thanks

I think the reproduction turned out great!

If the sample was not side by side the original, I would not have been able to tell the difference (apart from color). Heck, I had to stare at that picture for a while and can just barely see a difference with the stitching.

That looks like a good reproduction pattern in my book!

Well thanks everyone! It was quite the process so I will get some pricing and a product number in case anybody wants to get some from SMS.
I think I'm going to order some for my "new to me" 86 sunrader, the original is a gross pink/red combo.
Going with SMS over the denim print because I think it will resist wear and fade more so than a stitched fabric.
The only question now is finding the right color. That last sample was like a dark brown and grey combo, not sure where they came up with that.
They said they could do whatever colors we want, and I've never received a color match sample of the brown or grey I sent in (sorry 86 TOY).
Somebody should try to do some cool custom color combo.
Also, just for closure they did send back my brown headrest so my set is whole again
Will update with order details.

SMS order

I’ve had an order w/ SMS for seat fabric for over a year. Keep telling me they don’t know when. Also have issues with them responding to emails.
