? What is required for VSC in a Prerunner?
I rebuilt my left caliper, and I was reading about the bleeding proceedures in the 06 factory manual ( I own a 09)
There is the question of w/VSC or wo/VSC
I looked on my window sticker from the dealer and it says my truck is equiped with :
STAR safety system 4 wheel ABS
w/ Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
Brake Assist and Vehicle Stability Control w/Traction Control
(VSC+TRAC)
But when I look at the service manual and compare the VSC master cylinder to the on in the 09 truck they don't look the same, in fact it looks like the wo/VSC master cylinder.
Am I tripping or is there a reason for not having a VSC master when equiped with VSC in an 09 Pre Runner?
I researched my VIN on Toyota DIY
and it says I don't have VSC.
My other question is how much is the VSC option?
4000.00 or 5000.00 extra? with all the required components?
Has any one else discoved this type of discrepancy.

I appreciate the advice but to be honest 96.8% of the questions that are asked could be answered with the same phrase.
I actually called toyota's customer satisfaction 800 number,
they said the same thing because they didn't know how to describe it themselves.
Something about the ABS instead of the master cylinder having the same function
I explained that in my owners manual there is an example of type A and type B reservoirs.
and the represenitive said it was for the different sized engines that were offered.
I told him mine was the smaller of the two and I have the V6.
I have personal experience working for a couple Dealerships one was for Toyotas
If someone that owns a 2009 or newer Tacoma if they could verify the type of reservoir
that their truck came with VSC TRAC
It would save me the trouble of driving to the dealership just to say "Show Me"
I think it just may be a couple solenoids that react to correct the braking of individual wheels was moved into the ABS control unit instead of being housed together with the Master.
I think I have figured out how to bleed the brakes for the VSC in a one man operation,
using a vacuum pump more efficently by turning the VSC control switch off.
I'll probably rebuild the right caliper this week end,
and change a tie rod end for a greasable Moog unit.

Ok I found my answer by searching Google relentlessly
The difference in having a PreRunner (2WD) and the master cylinder is ,
Hydraulic VS Electronic (booster) which enables,
A-TRAC which is a function only avaliable in 4WD in L4 only
I'm still not sure if the electronic booster is required for
(HAC) Hill-start Assist Control or
(DAC) Down Hill Assits Control, but I don't have those options.
In the '09 PreRunner SR5 model VSC-TRAC-LSD (ABS functions),
are just the same as the 4WD models, when they are in 2WD mode (H2)
