Replacing 1999 4runner with 2013 Tacoma
OK,
My 4runner is still alive...just a bit beat up
1 owner, me....bought in 1998 and still going at >200,000 miles.
I am giving it to the GF, she needs a woods buggy of her own....
But I need a new woods buggy, and decided on a
2013 Tacoma ExtraCab 4x4 V6 6-speed std, TRD off Road package
dealer sez 28,950...can I get lower than this ? I have zero car buying
skills, I usually just go in and pay and leave as fast as i can...I hate it.

Toyota does not do leave much on the table to haggle with. Usually you end up paying close to sticker price...just make them give you an extended warrenty past the factory one. They are cheap to the company and it works out for both parties...

well, I negotiated a final price on
2013 Tacoma AC TRD-offroad/towing and 7/100,000 platinum
and got them from price A, to $4500.00 less than originally quoted
so...I didn't do too bad...seeing as in the past I happily paid sticker for
the 4runner and sticker for the Yaris. I decided this time, to talk
to 5 dealers, find out invoice prices, and whatnot...
turns out it is really easy to negotiate, you just need to confidently
laugh at the offer and say 'no way ! I am able to get one at XYZ price...'
until you know it's getting really thin...and not laugh past that and piss them off outright.

Please tell me you didnt get an extended warranty.
$4500 off is a pretty good deal. Its all in the perception anyways.
Congrats on the new truck.
Never get a extended warranty from a dealership...total suckers game.
Never get anything extra from the dealer like that.
Hell...alot of times its better to bring in your own pre approved financing as well...from a credit union is the best. They wont hold points on you.
Although the 0% for 60 months deals are a no brainer.

I wholeheartedly agree with you snobdds. As a tech at a dealer, it is MUCH better to go with the factory extended warranty, at least coming from a tech. Third party warranty's will cut you down and down to the point where, for example, they'll pay for just tone portion of the job, and leave you stuck with the rest. It's a great option for someone who doesn't do a lot of wrench turning or experience with it.

Tsk tsk. So uninformed.
Why buy an extended warranty that will not be useful at all until the 3/36
and 5/60 are up?
As a former finance manager of a Honda dealership...i could sell you an extended waranty the very last day of your extended warranty for the same price.
Why be an idiot and finance a warranty?
I guess fools and thier money are soon parted.
Warranties that cost us $1200 would add 3-4k on your loan.
Who does that?
Only one's that work for greedy insurance/warranty companies.

If you were actually a finance manager, then you should know a dealership makes next to nothing on new cars. The profits from a dealership come for the service and parts department, and to a lessor degree used cars. Since a dealership does not have a lot of room off of sticker price once incentives are factored in to come down...why not get an extended warrenty ON THE DEALER'S DIME as a good faith measure to buy around sticker price.
No where did anyone say "oh add that to the financing" But you respond as such...READ.
Again
Ready, Fire, Aim...

in the meantime I will spend my money how and where I want.
I have enough loot, and brains to get more loot, pretty much forever.

thanks
no stopping me now, when I am driving along and some old timer has some
crap on the side of the road for sale, bam I have the hardware. 4runner just
couldn't fit the occasional wagon wheel and similarly size objects and it's pretty
grubby inside from 14 years of hauling -anything-
plus I do need that locker...I am on skidder roads constantly
