tpms same for gx470 and 05 4Runner?

I purchased my 4Runner with aftermarket rims and no sensors. I'm looking at a set of GX470 wheels that have the Lexus sensors. Are these the same as the Toyotas and can I get them programmed to my vehicle? I've searched for tpms and gx470 but didn't really find this info. I'll keep searching and will update this post if I find anything. Thanks!

Well I'm a little bit of an idiot. I was looking at pics of sensors and apparently I do have them in my aftermarket rims. Doh. And, my spare was at 20psi. I filled the spare up and checked all the pressures but my light is still on. Still working...

Get a shop with a TDT/scan tool to read what the sensors are doing. The 'new' TPWS (tire pressure warning system) sensors may need to be programmed to your vehicle.

Was the TPWS light off when you got the truck?

Best thing to do is find out what the TPWS computer says is wrong, and go from that point. Guessing is just like shooting in the dark, a very frustrating waste of effort.

HTH.

Yes, the light was on when purchased from a Mercedes dealer as trade-in. I just [I]assumed[I] there were no sensors! On the drive home yesterday the light went off, but came back on once it was cold this morning. So, they must be registered but I'm still too low. I'm running 33.5psi but I suppose it could be calibrated higher.

I'm still wondering if the GX470 sensors are the same though?
