This topic has been brought up on t4r.org, planty of times. Many things have been tried, none work. Live with the light on. remove the bulb. or have the sensors installed on the new rims. I running th e20" enkies, andf i found a rubber spacer big enough to fit the valve stem hole of the new rims so I had the sensors installed on the new rims. light went off.

I believe there is a sensor that sits inside the valve stem (not sure as I don't have that crap on my 4runner) that you can reinstall on the new rim.
If not, I guess you can just short the signal so it doesn't go back on.
GOod luck

The sensor unscrews from the rim, and are very easy to install on a new rims if it fits. So if you have an after market rim, then you can try to move the sensor on to the new rim. In my case since I have 20" rims the circumferance of the new rim did not allow for the sensor to seal properly and the tires would leak. I found a rubber washer to place on the inside the if the rim/sensor to create a seal when the sensor is tighten down.
The sensors were standard on the 2004 and up. They do make 3 different sensors and you could loo to see if one of them fits, so you can keep the TPMS on your truck. Here is a link to a prior discussion on the same thing on t4r.org. MAny people have tried many things.
The fuse relay for the TPMS is under the glove box, I have personally disconnected and nothing has happend.
Another member found the wiring for it into the computer ECM and disconnected it. Still nothing ahs happend.

You gave away your sensors? I'd check to see if they still have them, since they wouldn't work with any other car. they probably switch out the sensors for the rubber ones.

You can search this forum for info as well..
quick rundown on the 4th gen sensors: (been there, done/tried that)
1.there is no bulb to just remove from the dash
2.check the pressure on all 5 tires
3.the sensors break rather easy and are $$$
4.you have to have the 7-digit code from each sensor (all 5) to have the stealer re-program the system if you break one
If you let discount tire take your sensors.... you could check your paperwork and if they were not part of the deal tell them the sensor light just came on and you had another tirestore pull the tires off and the sensors were gone, now you would like your sensors back. They are over $100 each, plus programming.
good luck!

TPMS on TOYOTA TACOMA and similars
I have found the way to solve our problem with the stock stems. What I did first was disasemble one stem and removed valve and gaskets. I used the long nut and two stem washers and heated up the stem on my stove. Once I thought it was hot enough I slightly bent the stem into a position that would fit my Trd 17's. It stayed on tight enough to withstand gravity force and not breaking apart, but I found another solution in case one of them breaks away out of the stem. Tirerack has some sensor that are mounted with screw-on braces, as seen on this link(http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...artire_all.jsp) so what I thought was to use one of those braces and use a piece of shrinking tubing big enough to fit the sensor inside, placed on top of the brace. The next thing is to mount the brace on the wheel. I hope it will work as I will do this to mine and if it does I will post my results later with pictures.
