2012 tacoma 6 Speed. Not to wear this out but.....
front actuator works, turn to 4 Hi it eventually will go in. Light blinks.
Will not got to 4 Lo. Axles lock in but wont come out. pull plug apart and put power to actuator will dis engage. reverse polarity it engages. To get out of 4 Hi and stop light blinking i have to shut the truck off. it appears both axle actuator and transfer case actuator are working. I believe it is a computer recognition problem. hence the blinking light and no 4 Lo. has anybody put a switch on these actuators, and is it possible to get 4Lo, if you put them on a switch?
i know the dealership is gonna kill me on this. lookin for another way.

I hope you figured this out already but if you haven't I just want to check on a couple things first. I am only asking because people have forgotten to do this before.

1. are you in 4H before trying to get into 4L

2. When you are under 5mph did you depress the clutch all the way before moving the switch?

3. did you adjust anything to do with the clutch (clutch start mod) since it requires the clutch to be engaged before it will go into 4L (as far as I know the only requirement) I would start there.

yeah i tried all the maneuvers. Its a bear to get even into 4Hi. then when it does go in, light is blinking constantly. going out of 4Hi it will not disengage the front diff. if i reverse polarity with power on pins, actuator will disengage. at this point i aint even thinkin about 4 Lo.
i'm thinkin its computer issue.

I just bought a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4WD stick shift truck and the manual said to start the engine shift to neutral, press the clutch and turn the ignition on; well, nothing happened, so I left it in neutral turn the key on and push the clutch start switch to start the engine why?cancel
