I just use stock as spare. Whenever I have a flat, I can use the stock spare as a "short temporary" solution.

265/65 is ~8.3% less in diameter (stock Dunlop compare to 285 MTR), so I wouldn't recommend to use id as a spare with 285/70. Too much trouble. 275/70 (the maximum you can fit under the truck) and 285/70 have ~2.0% difference in diameter.

Reference data:
265/65-R17 Dunlop AT20 - 30.6" tire, 96" circumference;
265/70-R17 GoodYear MTR - 31.9" tire, 100" circumference; -4.2% on speedometer;
275/70-R17 GoodYear MTR - 32.4" tire, 102" circumference; -6.3% on speedometer;
285/70-R17 GoodYear MTR - 33.0" tire, 104" circumference; -8.3% on speedometer.

Thank you for the great information. One last question. Can I use 285/70-R17 for current drive and 275/70-R17 for the spare?

I want 285 for a bit extra height. I know it not that much but an extra inch can increase my manhood confident.

Yes, you can. Just remember to inflate your spare ~5psi more then other and when you use it deflate the opposite tire ~5-10psi. In this case you'll have 10-15 psi difference and this should bring the difference in diameters to the minimum. And also, do not drive too fast on this setup. This should get you out of the trail to the tire shop, where you bets bet is to repair 285 and put it back; don't forget to bring the deflated tire back to normal.

My friend has 285/70-R17 BFG AT and he had only heated and bends those triangles.
I had 275/70-R17 GY MT/R and they rubbed to the inner fender a little bit. So 285/70 will rub much more.
I just installed 285x70x17 today and it rubbed at the triangle like crazy. I will heat and bend them tomorrow. Hopefully, it's an easy job. Does anyone has aligment problem. The shop couldn't get the front right camber and caster in spec (I posted it in another tread). Do I have to live with the uncorrect aligment or there is a fix for it?

Does this have the 2" spacer in the back also or only the 3" in front? Can anyone post pics of what they had to trim or point me to where those pics are posted currently? Thanks.

2006 4Runner Lift Kit

I just got a 2006 4Runner Sport. Want to lift exactly like these pics...but I'm curious how high the truck actually is. Having a hardtime picturing it. Can somebody post a picture with them standing next to their truck with a 2" rear and 3" front. Also, I like the look of the black 4runner at the beginning of this thread...do those wheels have spacers on them to push the tires out alittle? I like that look rather than the tire/wheels being in from the body alittle.

Thanks! (New to this whole thing)

- Jay

How is the Cornfed holding up on the XREAS's?

I'm considering a Cornfed 3"/2" install on an '08 Sport Edition 4WD V8 XREAS. Was wondering how these installs are holding up over the years? Did you keep the XREAS and if yes how is it holding up? How has the ride been? Any CV or Dif or alignment problems?

PS the cornfed lifts look sweet.

I've been selling these lifts for over 4 years now, and not one issue with 4th gen 4Runners. This is a great kit that works.

the fender well. I also had to remove the front mudflaps. The acceleration
diff was minimal and the truck rides great. No real tire noise or vibration,
even at 100mph+! Well if you have any other questions feel free to email me.

Also, the lift kit is going up $10 starting July 1st. No control over this due to material costs. If you order before then, you save. : )

Jason, can you ask the owner what the width of his wheels is?

Thanks!
