Said Goodbye to my '05 Tacoma TRD
Made the last trip with my '05 Tacoma this past week. It has been a great truck but having to take two vehicles going camping (kid's friends etc), not wheeling it much due to my schedule and having the '81 Trekker to fill those duties. The Missus and I talked it over and decided to look for something that would seat 8 and still be able to tow a respectable load.
After looking at a ton of trucks over the weekend, we ended up getting a Chevy (never, ever thought I would say that) Tahoe. They are practically giving these things away. Even with the body damage on my Tacoma and all the little 'personal' mods I made I feel I did a great trade, I will have the Tahoe paid off in 18 months
Tahoe handles pretty dang well and is getting about the same mpg around town as I would have in the Tacoma
Now down to three Toyotas in the driveway...

Don't listen to 'em... I think thats a very wise choice (provided it stays on the pavement). Tahoe's are great vehicles, and late model Chevy small blocks are as good as they've ever been, so no worries!

thanks Nix, I am don't really care what the dude thinks. Tahoe was a great deal, meets my needs, I can wheel my '81 when I get it put back together.
First time I have ever owned a v-8 powered car or truck, the power is addictive, much to my wallet's dismay...
the wheels came with the Tahoe, brand new tires so they are gonna be on it till it needs to be replaced. I have got the stock wheels off my dad's old 1/2 ton suburban that can go on it too...I hated to see the Taco go but it served its time well...it will be missed.

I felt kind of the same way, the salesman followed me home from the dealer to get the canopy. I had never seen the Taco driven down the road before, it was a great looking truck in the rearview. Maybe in a few years I will pick up an '01-04 Double cab to SAS after wheeling the '81 for a few years...time will tell..

Hey man, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. If it were me, I would have sold the kids into slave labor and told the friends to buy their own damn Toyota. But hey, that's just me.
All kidding aside, I bought a Youkon Denali after being rear ended in the T4R and the space and power are very nice. It did make me realize my 20 year old seats in the 4R were in bad need of being replaced.

The prices are def. down on those right now. I have thought of getting one in a yr or so as a travel vehicle. I just drove the in-laws' 03 to VA and back this weekend. I didn't like the way it handled on the curves up there. Also I think the steering rod may be worn a little. I seem to remember reading an article a while back saying the stock steering arm was garbage. They do look sweet though.
