I have a V8 2003 limited 4Runner and it's about to be paid off. I really love this vehicle and I'm the kind of person who drives a car until it's dead. I'd like to know what kind of options I have for upgrading the sound system. I think my options are fairly limited because I have the factory NAV unit also but I may be wrong. Can I put a NAV unit from the 2008 4Runner into my 2003? I know about the NAV mods from http://www.avelectronic.com/products.htm but this seems a bit extreme when I'm really only looking for MP3 abilities from DVD/CD,IPOD connectivity, Satellite radio and/or bluetooth. The video stuff is pretty cool (and clearly illegal) but much more than I'm looking for. I'm sure all those can be purchased separately but I think they are all available in the new 4Runners which I am hoping are the same form factor as my current factory installed system. Originally the 2003 listed a six CD changer as an addon option from Toyota but when I looked into it,it turns out they never had one or the two dealers I talked to knew nothing about it.

Go this route. You can find them around $600 on eBay, $750 with Bluetooth and iPod interfaces included.

 

you can also just get an iPod adapter $100-150 and still use your factory NAV. Take a look at VAIS Tech one at http://www.vaistech.com/
