That's how it should look from the factory.

If it reduces performance than I'm not really into that type of thing. With 18 inch wheels you can't really got off road (does not apply to the 2wd guys) and thus reducing you truck to street duty only or to the level of any AWD Subaru.

I had an Eclipse that I drag raced often and I never put anything on the car that would effect performance. 18 inch wheels would have looked nice on my car but I would have dropped a few tenths of a second in the 1/4 and I never put looks over performance.

I did have clears on my Eclipse but those in no way affect performance. So putting big rims on your 4wd is different than putting on clears or side markers and other appearance items on your 4WD.

Oh yeah,I also just saw the other day a Durango with ta˟˟˟˟l "4x4" stickers on the side and then 20" million spoke Daytons.

Sorry, but I can't be open minded towards and oxymoron of a truck.
The same goes for the doofs with 24s on their H2s.

lift kits and warranty

For those of you that believe that a lifted vehicle has a voided warranty, that is not the case. The warranty cannot be voided because of alteration to the suspension. They can void the replacement of parts that may have been directly damaged by the lift (ie. broken spring of failed shock absober)they cannot draw a link to engine and drive train components. Many of the larger dealerships offer lifted vehicles right off the lot. As a owner you have specific federal rights when it comes to vehicle warranty.

For those people who are lifting their new Runners, good luck on having your factory warranty cover any large repair bill. You lift, you waive rights in your factory warranty. I want a 2" lift with my XREAS when the factory warranty runs out. I'll wait until the market catches up with XREAS.
willymoe is right.

Do a search for the Magusson Moss act. Refusing warranty coverage by a stealer without proof of direct cause is a federal offense.

Oh wait, who would want a bloated over priced tahoe anyway??

But to be on topic, I'm glad to see the new 4Runner is starting to get somewhere in the aftermarket. Espcially in the up direction, eventhough it seems the new 4Runners were designed a bit more for the blacktop variety of turf.

Not to stir the giant - but isn't the new 4Runner a VERY capable off-road vehicle?

To each their own I say.

My Email:

>> I see on your website that you now have a lift for the 2003
>> Toyota 4Runner (4th Gen). Do you know what brand is the
>> rear shock? Do you know what the max tire size I can fit in
>> there.

wheelersoffroad.com response:

The rear shocks are actually from revtek. I'm not sure who they get them from. They are a white color and I don't believe they are gas charged. For the tires I believe a 285-75-16 or smaller is recommended.

Thanks,
Gary

Thats wrong! The wheels on a 4th are ###-##-17" or larger wheel because of the calipers.

FYI, the 4th Gen springs are the same for a V8 4X4 with or without XReas, at least according to a couple of parts guys I have spoken with. I have the part number's somewhere.

I think it's broken down by:

V8 vs V6
4X4 vs 4x2 (and V8 vs V6) at least for the front.

I think the rear have only two part no's. 4X4 and 4X2. If I find something different, I'll let you know.

Doug

PS, I haven't given up on the XReas yet. I have a cuban friend who is a mechanic and a magician. I think he may be able to save the XReas with some adapters.

BTW: Want a capable offroader, try this Euclid!! It has plenty of torque and great ground clearance! I could put 20, yeah 20 of any generation of Runners in the back and barely even notice the weight. Thats wheeling!!!

Willymoe, etc.-

My 3" revtek kit arrives tomorrow as I had it 2 day express mailed from Gary @ Wheelers yesterday. He said the lift was a 3-4 hour install. I was wondering if that seemed accurate, or if you experienced differing results? He also did say that it is a very easy install though. I also asked him about the shocks for clarification, and obviously, while the stock shocks are re-used in the front, the rear are replaced with foam filled/charged?? shocks. I didn't really know what that meant. Also, from all of the pics that I have seen, the lift still seems to keep the rear end of the vehicle higher than the front, which is definitely a positive in my mind, even though the kit is supposed to level and be a 2.5"rear and 3"front. My main concern / question here is; I have around 300lbs of audio equipment directly behind the rear seat that fills the majority of the back. I'm hoping that the rear shocks will be stiffer to help compensate for this? Anyway, lift goes on tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help and info. This post has been great for all of us. As far as Gary's response to one of the above mentioned posts, he told me that I could easily fit 285/70R17's after the lift is installed. I'm currently running 285/65R17's @ stock height, so it is obvious to me that they will fit as well.

285/65R17 (31.5" X 11.2")
285/70R17 (32.7" X 11.2")

Billy

Sorry Guys, no power or sliders! It does have beadlocks though. Wheres Jason D?

Billy, from my experience, the truck will stiffen up when the spacers are installed. The springs will be pre-loaded with tension, meaning they will be stiffer.

IMO, you shouldn't have any problems with that weight. Shocks are an easy swap, unless you're working on a third gen!

You should be fine!
