Williemoe, since you have performed the lift, can you answer another few questions?

My 4runner is tilted (driver side lower) even with fuel tank near empty. Toyota says "normal". If my ride is gonna tilt, I'd rather it tilt the other way so when I'm in it plus fuel in the tank, it's about even.

My question is: would it be a significant chore (during a lift) to swap coils/leafs to the other side? Are these components completely removed during the lift anyway? Maybe just a 1/2 inch spacer on driver side coil and leaf spring would even it out?

Driver side will naturally sag... Keepin mind that the driver/gas is on the driverside

Now unless you're always driving with level weight it'll always sag to the driver side.

If the sag is significant (i.e. 1" w/o gas and driver) then I'd have it checked out.

Adding spacers just on the driverside is not recommended by any means though.

 

How are you measuring the ride heighth?
What are the actual numbers?

 

On a flat surface from ground to base of fender flare, centered along hub of wheels, with less than 1/4 tank of fuel:

LF-33" RF-33 1/2"

LR-36" RR-36 1/2"

Regardless of where I measure from, it's half an inch. With full tank of gas it's more. With me sitting in it, I'm sure it's over an inch.

Maybe the numbers don't sound significant, but when looking at it from the rear, it's obvious. It's probably not a huge deal but I just find it odd considering todays technology. It makes me suspect something went wrong during manufacturing.

 

Try measuring from center of wheel @ hub to bottom of fender. There should not be a 1/2" difference from side to side. If there is a difference, take it back to the dealer and tell them to show you how normal it is on all their new ones!

 

I've measured that way and the difference was still half an inch. I had my truck in a couple of days ago and saw the FST and shop foreman regarding vibration issues and told him about the lean/tilt. He said they sometimes get this complaint with the 4runner and they would look at it. He didn't offer an explanation.

Haven't seen any paperwork yet and don't know if they did anything but the difference is now 1/4 inch with 3/4 tank of fuel, barely noticeable. Maybe the ride has settled a bit, I don't know. I just hit 2,000 miles. Vibration problem still there though and I need to get that remedied before I do a lift.

 

Examined and drove an 04 2WD V6 today for comparison.

Vehicle was tilted 1/4" with tank on empty so I'm satisfied with that issue. I was concerned that maybe something was defective.

Ticking noise was identical so I can let that one go.

Loose seat bottom, ditto. Just some up and down play, no biggie.

Ride felt very similar but I've got a vibration (mild but annoying) in steering wheel that wasn't in the test truck. Once I get that issue fixed (knock on wood), I'm looking forward to the lift. Not that I need one but I just like sitting up higher.
