HID replacement for '05 4Runner
I am tired of replacing halogen bulbs and want to convert to HID. Is there a kit that is available for my 2005 4Runner Sport? Any advice is appreciated.

a quick search would yeild some results of HID swaps, bulb types, etc...
the 06+ lights work quite well for the swap since they're projectors, but if you can't swap them, you can do a p&p replacement with the rebased HID bulbs. hardest part was finding a good place to mount the ballasts (well, that and aiming the headlights so you don't blind the @#$@ out of oncoming traffic).
when i get some time i'll probably convert my wife's 06 T4R since she is enamored with the OEM HIDs on her Sienna.

oh yeah -
imma guessing from the "808" in your s/n that you are somewhere in HI?
if so, you might want to check out RaceFactory down by Cooke St (if you're on O'ahu). they have a pretty good selection.
otherwise, a quick search of this site would probably steer you in the right direction for good online sources.

Hid
I replaced my high beams with HID from xenon depot. Left the low beams alone. My rationale was that I needed the light on the highway, not in the city. I mounted the ballasts on the passenger side to the heat shield on my K&N cold air intake. On the other side, I mounted the ballast to the fender support behind the battery.
I have a couple of knocks about this, one is that I don't flash oncoming traffic now (not good for the ballasts to quickly change the voltage repeatedly) and the second is that it takes about 10 seconds for them to come up to full illumination when you first turn them on. Once they have been on for a while, you can dim them for oncoming traffic and then switch back instantly (the ballast stays "warm").
