I'm in the market to get a 4th gen runner for the wife and one of the classified ads I was reading said that the 4.0 V6 has no timing belt but the 4.7 V8 does.

Can someone confirm this for me?

The 1grfe 4.0 V6 has a timing CHAIN.

You'd know that, if ya searched

 

I knew the "shoulda searched" post was coming...

I wasn't so concerned with if it was a belt or a chain. The ad was saying it didn't have a timing belt so it never needed to be replaced and saving the buyer money in the long run.

So technically the ad is correct. I would never have to replace a timing belt because it has a chain.

But I assuming that the timing chain does need replacing at some point. And I'm sure a quick search will give me that answer
