This week we had 2 06 tacos in at work today so i figured i'd throw up a thread on how to install the spacers since there seem to be alot of these trucks running around with a serious rake problem (low in the front high in the back) An old 60's muscle car comes to mine and well personally i dont think that suits these great trucks. So here is the thread.

The kit part number is kt09116 for the 03 - 06 toyota 4 runner / 05 - up toyota tacoma 6 lug 2wd and 4wd.

step one, put on your snap on gloves pre shot 4 3/4 inch fender gap.


-jack vehicle and place securly on jack stands
-Remove wheels
-the sway bar end links and remove the upper ball joint cotter pin and nut.
-separate the upper ball joint from the spindle using the appropriate ball joint -separater pickle fork. (or with a large hammer hit the steering stop afew times till it dislodges. careful they spring apart hard sometimes heh.
-remove the three strut tower nuts and remove the lower strut mount bolt and remove the strut from the vehicle. (watch the tension on the brake line and abs wires) i had an asistant push down on the lower arm while i used a pry bar to duslodge the lower part of the strut.


- using a coil spring compress compress the spring and remove strut.

- press in new studs onto top strut mount
- install spacer between coil and upper strut mount and reinstall coil etc. 18 ft lbs for top nut.

- install tapered spacer onto top of strut

using an asistant again reinstall the strut assembly


- install lower strut mount bolt (100 ft lbs)
- using a floor jack raise the lower control arm and connect the upper ball joint on the control arm to the spindle torque nut to 40 ft lbs and replace cotter pin.
- reconnect the sway bar end links and remount to chassis.

- install wheels and lower vehicle onto ground and tighten up upper strut tower nuts to 35 ft lbs
- take off your snap on gloves.
