Can an idler pulley be used to replace a tensioner pulley on a 2004 4Runner Sport V6?

I was wondering if anyone knows if an upper idler pulley can be used to replace the tensioner pully on a 2004 4Runner V6 Sport. I've been searching the aftermarket stores and they all want to sell the whole tensioner assembly. It looks like a pain to change out the whole tensioner so wanted to know if this is an option. It looks like the pulley dimensions are the same for both but wanted to ask the question before I start wrenchin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben
