I'm looking for some knowledge to be dropped on lifts for 4th gens. I think I have read all the threads on different lifts for 4th gens with or without xreas (daystar, revtek, NE) all great information.

I'm looking to get a lift and I was just wanted to check in and get everyones knowledge and experience with the best lift for a 4th gen with xreas. I was hopeing to put together a centralized summary of the options/price/quality/installation instuctions in this thread for others.

I would suggest you get your stuff from Nitrous Enterprises.

Float, there are a few threads that centralize all the lifts that are out there. I added the Daystar lift to my xreas runner. Depends on what you want to spend and how much lift you want. You can go expensive and do coil overs $1000 plus, Revtek is about $400-500, and Daystar will set you back $200-300. Do a good search on lifts and read more of the threads. One more thing, don't even touch NE products do a search on them and you'll find out why.

If you want to keep your xreas, then you're stuck w/ spacers which I only recommend Daystar and Revtek which gives you 2.5" and 3" respectively. Personally speaking since you can't upgrade your xreas shocks, you're really limited by that alone and 3" is the upper limit.

If you want to remove xreas completely, then your options open up. You can pick up some nice coilovers or some coil and shock combo when they become available but do remember that their prices will start well above the spacer price.

Installation is not that difficult if you're the hands on kind of person that likes to wrench. With guideance, you can do it even if you're a rookie. Asking for help from local members is always a plus.

Hey guys thanks for the information on the spacers for 4th gen with xreas. Would I need to get a 3 " for the front and a 2.5" for the back for the truck to sit level.

Does anyone know what place has the best deal on the daystar or revtek spacer kits.

http://www.wheelersoffroad.com has the best prices, and if you want the Revtek kit, then you can email Gary (there at wheeler's) and get the kit without the longer shocks since you won't be able to use them anyway.

 

there is a new 3" full suspension lift including rear shocks by donahoe, hitting distributors march 1st. this setup is made to work with the 4th gen runner and '05 tacoma as well. not sure if it's compatible with the xreas or not, but you can try emailing them to find out. www.donahoeracing.com

i don't think they have any info posted on the site, but Mike Crosby can more than likely give you some info on it. they don't have pricing on this as of yet.

 

donahoe shocks wont work with XREAS, so no luck there. spacers will probably be the cheapest and easiet way to go. If you can get the revtek without the rear shocks I would say go for it. or else get it with the rear shocks and you can send them to me The daystar kit will give you a little less lift than advertised. not sure if the revtek setlles a bit as well.

 

you're right, they definitely wouldn't work if you decided to keep the stock shock setup. i figured i'd throw out another option. it's not cheap.

Thanks for all the great info. Is Revtek spacer kit better then the daystar? It sounds like the daystar settles a bit over time. Also which kit has a better ride? most like factory.

 

Both are about the same. But I would think that the revtek would make the ride abit more stiffer due to the design.

It won't be significant unless you're used to driving luxury vehicles. But then again it's a SUV so I wouldn't sweat that much. Just go for the height look.

i ran the revtek kit for a number of months and it was still giving the promised amount of height when i removed it. i'll be putting it back on soon.

 

I would think the Revtek will also settle a little bit over time and with enough pounding on it. My Daystar settled about 1/2" in the front and a 1/4" in the rear. Ride was very similar to stock. So nothing major.

 

true, but andries, we both installed our lifts at the same time - your Daystar kit settled, my Revtek didn't. but i think FirstToy posted once that Daystar changed their materials to resist settling a bit more ... so maybe the current kits from Daystar are a little less likely to settle as much. (though as people have stated elsewhere, any kit will eventually settle - whether it's the spacers themselves or the suspension components)

the picture you posted of your Daystar spacers was very telling ... and while it was much better still than a NE spacer, it was still a little more deformed than i'd like to see. my revtek kit didn't settle that way, and the top spacer is metal, though the lower spacer feels heavy and tough enough to be metal too. (but i don't think it is?)

 

Daystar is good. Thumbs up from me.

 

Is there any difference between Daystar's front spacer design and Revtek's? Both use a preload spacer and a top out extender?

Hey man, don't knock Grade 2 bolts. They do a fine job of holding lawn furniture together.
