Sorry amigo I was just checking on what was going on in this thread... I'm not very familiar with the 05's to give you an answer... also you may be the first person trying to run the set-up you're discribing... does'nt the tire shop have any idea?
Sorry I could'nt help more...aviator

Elbandito, why don't you look up the specs on that tire? If it's the same rolling diameter and width as your old tire, it should fit. I don't have a Runner like yours, but was researching different tire sizes because I was thinking of going from a stock 15" to a 17". The only way I really knew if it fit, was getting the tire size specs on that particular tire. The only difference will be the inside diamter of the tire. The outside should/will stay the same.

Thanks guys, that helps alot. I called SLEE and they said that the issue with that tire size will not be the height. It is slighly wider than factory, so the concern would be for the inner portion of hte tire rubbing against the uper ball joint. SLEE said that all you need is 1/4 " clearance between tire and ball joint, so it should be ok.

El bandito,
I like your post and Im thinking about the same size tire b/cause it re quires a smaller lift to fit. I want to use my 4th gen as a commuter and was thinking about the 275/70/17 but i only found 2 tire choices bf goodrich at ko and the goodyear mtr. Have you found anything else.

Guinness,
I usually go to TheTireRack.com and enter the size I'm looking for. There were probably 6-7 choices in that size. I like the 275's because you don't suffer as much in gas, don't have to change your gears and I don't think I will use the extra .5" of height that a 285 would give me. Plus, with 275's, I can use the factory rims and put the money saved somewhere else.

u might have some rub issues on the uca. thats an odd tire size, and expensive. a good tire size that i believe will fit is 265/75/16. which is what i have on my 07 taco with a 3 inch lift, but im not sure if the suspension and all is the same.

Yes they will fit, but rubbing will happen
I have them on my 2005 4runner w/3 inch lift and they rub on the control arm and the frame. Not a lot of rubbing, but enough to hear it when you turn. I have ordered 1 1/4 wheel spacers to fix the problem and I'll let you know how that works out. The problem is not with the height.

Crowbird, that's the input I was really looking for. Since we have the same vehicle, that helps alot. The 275's are .4 " wider that the OEM 265's. I thought that they might rub on the inside... I think my latest plan is to consider the BFG 255/75/17's. They are the same tire height, but only 10" wide. They should definitely fit on OEM rims no problem! Because of the tire size, they are priced at $146, which is pretty reasonable.

Are you going to do BFG M/TS? I was going to run those but some people were complaining about those tires being horrible in snow. I was running 265 70 17 nitto terra grapplers with no rubbing now I have some aftermarket 16s with 265 75 16 BFG A/TS they rub like crazy.

I have the Cooper STTs in 275/65R18 on the oem 7.5" rims which, as you may already know, is the same size as the 275/70R17. I would not want to drive the vehicle without using spacers and this size tire in the Cooper STT. The UCAs were literally touching the sidewall, with the widest portion of the sidewall below the UCA. It looked like if you would slam on the brakes the UCAs would shred the tires.
I also had to do a little trimming in the front. With the caster cams set in the middle it would keep the tire just far enough forward to clear the rear of the wheel well. Also, mine did fit in the spare location. Hope that helps!
