I'm thinking of selling my 95 4Runner and 90 Pickup and getting a Tacoma. I don't do any towing, I do go on relatively long road trips from time to time and I might be living in a place where the weather is not so hot.
I'm trying to decide between a 2WD and 4WD, as well as if I should go with a 4cyl or 6cyl engine. Gas mileage is a factor, no doubt this summer (and all following summers) are going to have expensive gas prices. I live in an area where snow is common and a 4WD truck is a real advantage, but not an absolute necessity.
What is the real gas mileage of the 4 and 6 cylinder engines, both in the 2WD and 4WD? Any convincing arguments for either engine? Anything else you would tell an long time Toyota truck owner about the current Tacomas?
