05 Tacoma ARB bumper install

I picked up the ARB for my 05 today from TRDParts4U. Barb, Chris, Jacque, and Phil have gone out of their way to help with my 05, I appreciate it...

Here is the bumper...

I started taking parts off the truck... The plastic "bumper" removed, and some black spray paint to hide the white sheet metal underneath. More pics tomorrow...

Interesting Idea....

This is what I have done so far....

I took off the plastic bumper, painted the sheetmetal underneath with black paint. Today I removed the Aluminum "bumper" and installed the ARB mounting bracket. The stock "bumper" is held on with 6 10mm studs, you need a deep socket to take them off.

The ARB is significantly more stout, and is attached to the frame in more places than the stock bumper. It is is attached with the the six stock bumper studs, and 4 non-stock 12mm Bolts. It aint coming off.

The sides are braced to the frame with 1/8" steel held on with 1/2" x 4" bolt through the frame and 2 10mm bolts to the bracket on each side.

I used a significant quantity of locktite, torqed the six bumper studs to 70lbs, all the others are torqued to 60lbs, exept for the 1/2" x4" bolt through the frame which is torqued to 10lbs per the instructions.

The instructions are very clear, everything bolts up without a hitch, so far...

The rest will be finished up tomorrow at Jacques place...

You are welcome. What is the new tech section? It still seems to be in the section I posted it in originally... "03+ 4Runner/GX470, 05+ Tacomas, & 07+ FJ Cruisers"

More pics tomorrow...

Completely bolt on, no modifications other than removing parts.

Mounting the bumper is a two person job. The instructions are very clear, and accurate. Except for the wire colors for the parking and turn signals. Not a big deal, just to let you all know. Everything is done, I am really happy with the results. The IPF lights with 110w bulbs are bright.

Thanks to Jacque (Gumbo) and Chris (Valkyrie) for all their help. I appreciate it.

I thought about painting them black... But I wheel it so much that I have already scraped off the stock grey paint in a lot of spots. My concern is if I paint them black, then I will have black/gray/steel/rust colored rims...
