03 4Runner Transmision Fluid Change?

Second owner and bought with 65k on it 2 years ago. Mostly highway miles (commute 55 miles each way). Now has 110K.

Trans now shift slow. I checked the fluid and it looks like I am low (at low temp level after my hour drive). Looks clean (redish), doesn't smell burnt.

I made an apointment to have fluid flush, new filter and trans case fluid change (no history on previous maintenance and this is first trans service since I've owned).

After going on line, not sure if I am overdoing it. Read how a flush could free up particles and create an issue. Not sure if I can switch to synthetic on a flush and if it is wise at 110K.

(Live in apt with lack of permission, space and tools to change fluid myself...just easier to drop off and pick up..)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd just do a few drain and fills every 3k and slowly work the old fluid out until it is mostly fresh. Flushing can, like you found, move around junk that has settled...that can plug up passages and destroy the tranny.
