Yota Winch Mount

ask them. Hard for someone on the westcoast to say how much a welder in SOuth Carolina would charge.
Google Search "More Power Puller" it is a heavy duty come along that is better than a normal one and would fit with your 'college student' budget.
I have been using mine for 15-20 years, works front or rear and I can loan it to someone. Still works when my battery goes dead. Sure it is not a winch, but has worked for most of my needs...

I had a warn 6k winch on a brushguard mount on the 83 Toy 4x4 I had back in high school. It did fine. Just cause you don't wheel every day doesn't mean it's not really nice to have a winch when you DO get stuck, even if it's just once or twice a year. Winched out my old man's very stuck cummins diesel dodge with it, had to tie the rear of my toy off to a huge tree, never had a problem one with the winch mount.
It mounted to the frame, not the front bumper. Idk what brand the mount itself was, but it was solid and worked fine.

Once I manage to get new mounting brackets for it I figured I'd just keep the stock bumper on until it's toast and use the brush guard as a starting point for a new bumper. Gotta get a new fairlead for it too.
E: Oh, I see, this thread is a hellbump!
Well, If -anyone- happens to have pictures of the mounting hardware for that brush guard, I'd appreciate it.

hey man, can you get some pics of how that thing bolts on?? does it have any type of reinforcements on it, or is it just bolted to the frame behind the bumper?

I've got 2 of the old school Warns... Like that Chrome atrocity... but black
I can snap some pics of the hardware, but my threads are stripped on my truck so I can't bolt it up...
I'll see what I can do about mocking them up and snapping some pics morrow...

We drive old, out dated stuff, man... It's sad, but they are DC'd.
You'll have to luck up. I got one off a flip, and the other a friend traded in a truck and got it off for me b/f he did...
I like them. I think they're simple and effective (enough).
If I had ARB money, I'd buy ARB stuff... I think these were around $200 when new.

Pictures of it mocked up even would be much appreciated man, thanks! It's the 6 (or was it 8) mounting bracket/plates that I need to see.

dont count out the hitch receiver idea.
i've had one mine for almost 10 years now. i have done a few straight on or almost straight on pulls. one pull was so bad. i was trying to get up a muddy rainy trail. sure enough i started to slide sideways, almost to the edge of falling off. i had a tree to my right so i rigged my front mounted hitch winch and ran the cable to the tree to a tree saver and a clevis. then ran the cable to my all pro rear bumper.
so the winch cable was a triangle.
i pulled myself sideways enough to clear the edge.
i looked at the mount, the custom hitch receiver and nothing. of course i had the front hitch mount custom made by a family friend who was a welder by trade. so he knows what he's doing.
the winch mount itself is off a ford f350 frame. the receiver is solidly bolted to the factory frame mounts up front, using 3 bolts per side. and the 2" receiver itself is SOLIDLY welded with a gusset on each side.
winch on the mount weights about 150 pounds or so...
i've seen the portable winch mounts made by a couple winch companies and i laugh at them. ditto the front mounts too.

hey, sorry for the delay... But I cracked a block and had to Sanford & Son me another one together...
I'll get pics ASAP... And they should be good... I have a parts truck with a 3" BL on it, no motor and transmission, so I'll just mock it up and snap some pics...
x11tybillion on the receiver winch...
If you weld a receiver on your sliders you could hella upright yourself in a roll over...
so that's one winch, and 4 possible points to winch from!

That's alright man, I think I figured out how it goes on but if you know the part number for them then I can just goto the local warn dealer here and buy the right replacement mounts.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever read in a truck forum. And that's saying a lot. What this comment basically says is that only wheelers need a winch. I've seen dudes on construction sites use a winch to pull stuff onto a trailer for instance. Or moving a large rock or tree in a landscaping project. I could think of maybe 20 other things not related to wheeling to use a winch for.

Keep in mind. this is a 12 year old thread.
But when I read the replies to the OP I sensed a building frustration with those offering sincere advice. Mounting a solid front winch on that vehicle is a bit tricky. They kept offering constructive help, while the OP seemed more concerned with outward appearance than practicality. I think the post about a lack of need for a winch was a flippant remark before they turned the lights off on that thread.
