Yet another Issue
This is one of several posts that I have made. I need your help again. So to recap, I replaced my head gasket on my 86 4Runner 22RE. I finally got it started, timed (close), and the idle set to 750. When I took it driving it ran awful, did not have enough power to get out of its way and would stall anytime I slowed, unable to make it above 45mph. So I looked over many things. Checked idle, timing, throttle set screw, tps adjustment ect.... Then I finally checked my plug wires and found that #3 and #4 had sperated at the ends. So I go down to the store and get me a new set. Starts, sounds, and idles a heck of alot better. So I go to time it again and yet another set back my timing light broke. Well I think I have it in the ball park at least enough to check it out. So I take it for a ride it seems to have much more power in lower gears until about the time I shift to 4th. Also, evertime I slow down to make a turn or whatever it stalls. Also, broke the temp sensor wire with my big clumsy elbow, that is just forward of the thermostat and have not fixed it yet. Could this be causing all my issues? If so how many volts should I be reading at the wire? And should I solder or butt crimp? And do I need to use 16 gauge wire to match that of the wire harness or is 12 gauge fine? Please any info is good info. Thanks in advance.

If its the temp sensor for the temp gauge, then its no big deal, but if its the temp sensor that the computer uses to sense coolant temp then it needs to be repaired for your truck to run properly.
