wiring question future winch

Hey all.
Not much activity over on the General Electric forum so I'll post this here for now.

I'm in process of adding an additional fuse block and aux circuits. Distribution block isn't mounted yet, and I can not download pics from iphone or I would post some eye candy for ya.

I have a four hole Carlson type rocker panel, and for the fourth position, I am thinking about adding a double throw switch for a future winch.
ON to the Question!

My thought is nominal 5 or 10 amp fused source, and the two poles on either side will go to two different relays; One for winch out and the other winch in. Thinking that would be how I could reverse polarity on the winch motor. (Honestly, not even certain how they operate, let alone do I own one.)
So that's my question. Is this a totally stupid thing to do, or am I possibly on right path?

Right now I have dash totally apart, so easier to run wires now (which I have) thru firewall hole that engine harness goes thru. (Also in hopefully final-ish stages of 5vz swap).

Do have one pic. Start hatin' LOL.

Oh, and thanks in advance!

Most winches have a plug in or wireless remote to operate. However i do like the idea of being able to do it from the drivers seat, too. I would not want to eliminate the factor remote, because youll probly want the option to operate outside the vehicle.
id look at a couple common winches- maybe warn (gold standard) and smittybilt (generic chinese product) and download the manual for whichever model you can see installing in your truck. They should have info on wiring guidelines.
