What engine???? Assuming you have a 22r(e) did you take the plenum off first? I always take the plenum off so you can see everything. Also did you make sure to disconnect the coolant pipe that connects to the underside of the intake? If the harness runs through the intake down to the starter, oil pressure sender, knock sensor you are going to have to disconnect those so you can pull the wiring harness completely out of the way. I usually tuck the whole harness over to the passenger side fender so its out of the way.

"...starter, oil pressure sender, knock sensor...", AND, the two O2 sensors, and, the speed sensor, and, the reverse switch, and 2 or 3 more connectors, on the greasy, muddy undercarriage. It's either that, or leave the lower intake in the engine bay.

Its easier to take the harness out with the head. Pull it loose fromt he ECU, take it all out. As for the intake, dont forget that little 5mm allen cap screw holding it on, near the thermostat housing. And there is a wire that bolts ot the intake (brown ground wires) and then the other end will go to the 02 sensor and tranny.

What engine are we talking about guys? The 22r-e is quite easy to disconnect all the connections and pull the harness over to the side. There are only a handfull of connections but if you are worried about not being able to put them back where they came just mark them and take lots of pictures.

This is a 22Re I have the intake loose now, its just i cant get it out because of the wiring harness. What im gathering from you guys is that i can take it loose under the kick panel at the ECU and take the plug loose from the AFM and loose from the firewall, i should be able to then pull the intake out without having to go under and disconnect all the connectors for the tranny? Correct?

I agree its a pain, is some of the connectors under the truck at the tranny? I am not at home right now to see what you are talking about, but it sounds as if you are saying they are right under the manifold

Well, we disconnect them from the engien ECU, take a whopping 5 minutes to do, then pull the harness right out of the firewall. We leave it on the AFM, but once off from the ECU, swing it completely out of the way. But just the same, when we remove a head from an EFI 22RE, we pull the head w ith intake and take the harness with it. Once on the bench, its much easier to work with.
