i have a weird wiring gremlin on my '90 4runner. as soon as i hook the battery up, the wipers, gas light + 4WD indicator light and blower motor have power at all times regardless what position the key is in the ignition, or if it's even in at all.

i removed the gauge cluster and everything else so i could paint my dash, put everything back in and this problem occured. even when the gauge cluster was unplugged, there was still constant power going to the wipers and blower motor.

has anyone else experienced this before? there are two wiring plugs under the steering column that i have no idea where they plug into.. my truck is the base model so i'm thinking they might be for options my truck didn't come with? i'll get some pictures tomorrow.

other than that i really can't figure it out and something i need to fix ASAP, if not obviously i'd have a huge parasitic draw and a dead battery in no time.

 

will pulling the fuses stop the blower and wipers ? a friend had a 1 ton chevy that the running and cab lights would come on with the key.it turned out to be the wire for the lights had melted to a hot wire . it was between the two halves of the fuse box. so you might get a wiring diagram and see if the wiring shares a common area that could let them come in contact with a hot wire. a bad ground might cause a problem also.
