windshield trim removal on 86 4wd

I was wondering if there is a way to remove the stainless steel trim around the windshield without breaking the clips. There are some rust spots that need fixing, but I don't want to destroy the trim trying to get to it.

I will hold off then. I need to get some Ospho or POR 15 first. In one spot, on the drivers side A pillar, it rusted through, and made a pin hole

For being a CA truck, it sure has a lot of surface rust (compared to the other one I have, which is the same year and spent its entire life outside as well).
