Wind noise from sunroof

My 87 4runner has a lot of wind noise from the sunroof when going down the highway. There's no rust in there and it doesn't leak water. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this and has a simple solution other than crank the stereo up so I don't hear it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The sunroof on my 1993 had this issue as well as a very small amount of moisture creeping through. Ended up being chunks of leaf and pine needles that wedged into the mating surface of the gasket and the roof. Id inspect that and make sure nothing is lodged in the gasket creating an opening. No issues since cleaning and drying it out. I have found over the years that even the smallest disturbance in a gasket can cause a major sealing issue.

The 87 is quite a bit different from what my 93 was. I believe I'm missing the plastic pieces that the front of the sunroof slides into. Does anyone know a source for those? I can post some pics later if it's not clear what I'm talking about.

I think you're talking about the "shoe" that bolts into the slots in the sunroof channel. The front pivots on the panel itself slides into those shoes.
No, i haven't seen a source other than used ones.

that wind noise is likely to be the glass separating from the frame. the original adhesive is 35+ years old.

2 years ago, i was experiencing the same noise. eventually, while driving on the interstate during a light snow shower, i saw the glass lift from the frame and nearly fly off - but i reached up and grabbed it and pulled over to the breakdown lane. i removed the sunroof for the ride home (yup, even with the snow). i swapped the sunroof with my parts runner's sunroof, and haven't yet rebonded it to the frame. on my to-do list.

edit - no leaks prior to it trying to lift off, either. just increasing wind noise over the span of about 4 months.

I will definitely check this out tomorrow. I did have the sunroof out last winter and didn't notice it, but I wasn't looking for it. In the past, I thought it was the windshield, but I had that replaced this spring. It is missing a shoe on the right side. My attempt to fabricate one didn't go well the first try. It could be the missing shoe. I just have to keep eliminating things until I get the right one.

Thanks again for the help.

I was curious if you found a solution to your sunroof issue. My 86' is experiencing the same issue except some of my frame that is bonded to the glass is beginning to rust. Any updates or advice would be much appreciated!
