i pulled out some cherry seats out of a 86 p.u. to replace my ripped runner seats....the p.u. brackets were about 3 or 4 inches too long. i was upset.

They should fit. I had a seat from an 84 in my 93 and it was a direct fit. You may have to drill some holes though. When I changed to a split bench, which mounts the same as buckets, I had to drill the holes for the inside brackets.

My Answer to this question is this...

the seats themselves will fit. The brackets are not a direct bolt in replacment.

I am in the same situation and looking for a solutions.

I have 88 forerunner seats and am trying to mount them in a 94 pickup.

4Runner seats are different on the PASSENGER side on the 84-89 4Runners due to the "tilt and slide". (the bracket is some 3" shorter) to allow easier egress for the rear passengers

The floor pans OFTEN has the nutserts already welded in - pull the carpet and look for a circular tape "cap" and peel it off to find... a threaded hole

they wont fit directly, as said above, but in my old truck i fit some taco 60/40's and making the brackets was not a huge chore.

Can you post some pics of your brackets?

I am not a fabricator at all and have no idea where to start on something like this.

Thanks

Sorry, I haven't been on for several days. I live in Billerica. It is northeast MA near Lowell and the the New Hampshire border. Roughly 35 miles northwest of Boston.

Oh yeah, My split bench, I got out of another truck, not a 4Runner. The inside front bracket on the drivers side does not fit EXACTLY but would only require a block to make fit. I didn't even bother. The rest of the seat brackets matched the floor pan and I had to drill holes for the inside bolts except the one I mentioned.

This is what I did.

on the passenger side. I used the existing front outside mount. I bolted the set to that. Then Marked the location for the back to mounts on the floor pan.

After doing some checking I found the floor pan is double walled where the captive nuts is in the floor but not the entire floor.

I checked for lines and things under the cab and then drilled the holes in the floor.

I bought some new bolts and washers for the mounts through the floor.

I bolted that seat in with 3 mounts.

Still have not figured out a way to mount the front inside of the seat but the seat seems secure with just 3.

for the driver side. I had to remove the seatbelt from the floor and use the existing holes for the back mounts. I did have to grind the holes in the bracket out a little to make them line up right. For the front I again used the existing mount on the outside. I had to grind a slot in the front mount and use a big washer over it.

This seat was also mounted with 3 mounting points but seems solid.

I am sure there are better ways to do this but this is how I did it.

I am driving the truck a few days with the seats mounted this way to make sure I dont have any problems. Once I am satisfied. I will take them back out and put the carpet and trim back in the truck and finish it all up.
