Why does my truck not have these features?
I was bored and reading the manual for my 1992 pickup ext cab today because, frankly I've never really looked at it. Anyways i noticed it said I had two features i don't have.
1. A buzzer(reminder) when you leave your lights.
2. A illuminator for my ignition where my key goes in.
Why does my truck not have these? I've checked fuses for number one and for the illuminator there is no light were it says it is supposed to be. Were these optional??
Thanks-Blake

Mabey the illuminator but i dont see why the headlight on reminder would be only on the SR5. If I have the key in the ignition buzzer than why dont I have the light on buzzer?? And "Skinsfan6" your right the light your referring to is the ignition light.

I have an 86 4Runner SR5, and even it doesn`t have all of the SR5 options that were available at the time, ive only seen a few SR5 trucks and 4Runners that were fully optioned, and i don`t think ive ever seen or heard a light on buzzer in a first or second generation truck.

i have a '94 standard cab, base model. Comes with none of those features. In fact, the only electrical features i do have are:
-dome light (yay, for door, always on, and off)
-radio and tape player (tapes rule)
-indicator lights in hud (battery, e-brake, hi-beams, engine check)
the upside: less electrical hassle. Plain and simple... less breaks

The ignition light is that little green light beside teh cruise control. It should shut off around 10 seconds after the doors are closed.
As for the buzzer, it's removable. It's very possible that the PO unplugged or removed it. Look for a little plastic black box under the dash near teh steering column. It should have a single plug with 8 or so wires running to it. If it's not there, you can swipe one from a junkyard truck, and plug it in.
I quite like the buzzer. It's saved my battery a few times. My Celica had one too, but someone unplugged it. I didn't know what it was, so I removed it. I killed my battery a lot in that car.
Edit: and just to rub it in, my 86 SR5 has EVERY factory option on it, including moon roof, and even the upgraded door panels

Ha well I am the original owner. I'll check to see if the black box is there under the column but I need one because there has been a few times where my bat. has died. :/

I don't have a headlight buzzer on either of my rigs and would sure love to have them. I got halway through this thread and remembered I left the lights in the 4runner on. *sigh*

My taco doesn't even have the headlight buzzer. I have drained my battery many times.
I have learned from my mistakes by only having the headlights on when i can see the light they are producing.
