WHOOO HOOOO The body is on but........??????

Yes of course I ran into a few uh ohhhhs. First one is the wiring harness connections. Well really only one connector under the dash, not one of the ones that go into the ecu but the gray one that is loose right next to the white one the connectors are different sized. As a temp fix to get running and check systems I cut the old connector from the old wiring harness and spliced it into the new one. Only prob is the new one is from a 94 mine is the 90 plain jane stock unit, so there are two wires extra in the 94 and on a side note the colors of wire are slightly and I mean slightly different.

Anyway She started once and then got running real rough like timing was shot but I never did anything that would throw that except this wiring. ANY SUGGESTIONS??????? I am looking up the wiring diagrams for both trucks and that will probably help, but thought the yota tech gurus would like to give it a shot.

you probably wired something up incorrectly. there is tons of diagrams for the ecu pinouts.

wouldnt have been a hole lot simpler to just keep everything from the 94 the same just make some simple modifications to fit it all on the body?

Slowboost. Actually I DID keep everything from the 94 basically as it was less the Air and cruise control. But pulling the complete and total wiring through the whole thing was unacceptable. I think the wiring actually is real real close and maybe even right. She starts up but wont stay running without a lot of use of the skinny peddle. I am going to ask a new question in a new thread on this but feel free to answer back here as I will be checking both.

Maybe check the other connectors on the ECU. If they fit the 90's ECU put it in the 94 and wire the old connector back on. I'm not sure if it will work but its worth looking.

*EDIT after Ultramags last post*

Why are you making another new thread? Its already hard enough to find something on this site, why make it worse. Just pick a thread and keep it. We will check it every time it has a new post.

I used the 94 ecu and wiring harness the connections are all in the ecu. the one that is causing problems is the gray on that stayed with the body. I am downloading wiring diagrams for bot trucks and hopefully that helps.

THANKS TONS

Does the connector that didn't fit go under the dash or is it to the engine? I'm a little confused on this one.

Okay I will try to paint the pic. Under the dash on passenger side, behind the ecu or above it there are two wiring connectors. one is white one is gray. These are not the 3 that go into the ecu. The gray one from the donor (94) harness has a larger connection and 2 extra wires. I cut the connector off of the original harness and did the temp wire (color to color) thing so I could plug it into the other end and am trying to get the actual diagrams to insure I did it right before perming it up. It starts and when revved up it runs but wont stay running when I let off of the gas. Hope this helps

What im having trouble understanding is why your hacking up the two trucks harness. why not use everything from the 94 and stuff it into the 90? wiring colors change with years and auto/manual trucks as well.

heres some links that may be helpful to you

autozone's website also has some diagrams on there.

Thanks for the links I seriously appreciate it. The main wiring harness Is the 94 but the one that has these two connectors is the 90 now it runs EVERYWHERE and connects to who knows what who knows where, and it just stayed with the body of the 90, granted and agreed that if I had the time and knowledge I mostlikely would have taken ALL of the wiring and swapped it but that is def not the case.

Well good luck. If I could see a pic of it I could help more but right now I'm too confused over it to do anything.

you are going to have to start looking at wiring diagrams before you continue any further. alot of this stuff looks the same but is nowhere near. it will help you to see what your connecting to what and what needs to be done. id take the dash out too if you havent yet, it makes it alot easier.
