Whole Dash Swap Questions
I'm not working on the truck in my pic anymore. That one's gone. I just built a high compression cammed 6.0 and put it in my daily driven 06 Tahoe. It's fun, but it's expensive to drive. So I picked up a 93 Pickup 2wd to drive around and use for work trips. The motor should be out of the machine shop today. Anyway, here's my question:
My truck is the base model. It has the dash with the piece that goes over the gauges. I'm not sure how to describe it. Well that piece is busted as is the whole black piece that surrounds the gauges. Most of the replacement parts I can find are for the dash that doesn't have that piece that goes over the gauges. Can I take the entire dash out of something else and put it in mine? Does the DLX and SR5 dash mounting points the same? I can't find a lot of info on complete dash swaps but I could use some advise before I start ordering stuff.

There's another thing, I threw away a bunch of busted up pieces of dash that the previous owner left with the truck and like an idiot, I threw away the gauge light rheostat. The plug I found that would go to it is a 2-pin. All the ones I find on ebay are 3-pin. Does anyone have a 2-pin rheostat I can buy? Can I just jumper it and at least get the lights to come on? The FSM shows it to be a 0-10 ohm rheostat. I thought about jumpering it with a 5 Ohm resistor for half power.
