well, i think im one of the few that can use 5th gear in my 88 p/u with a 22re. i can accelerate in 5th up to about 90. (on flat ground). i still have the 4th gear hill climb, but depending on the hill, i can shift into 5th and it will still accellerate. lets see who else can do this...

My 5th gear actually gets me up some hills on some days.
Once I get under 60mph in 5th I gotta shift or it just keeps losing speed.
I guess my speedos not right though unless my truck came with 31's stock...

I use 5th all the time but it's pretty flat here. On some hills I have to downshift.

5th shouldn't be an issue with it geared properly. 31s should be 4.56s, 33s should be 4.88s, 35+ should be 5.29s.

I set my cruise control at 75mph in 5th pulling my camping trailer without any issues.

5th gear's alright here in the flats for me, will pull at 50mph+, although if she sees a hill in the distance - to 4th she goes. (85 4rnr, 22re, 31x10.50, 4.10s)

Anyone who never went to larger than stock tires or anyone who regeared after putting 33" or taller tires.

I can get 4200 RPM in 5th with the 33" BFG A/Ts

I can get to 3600 RPM in 5th on 34x10.50 LTB swampers, it has some left but feels like it wants to shake apart .

according to the plate on the side of my door, it came stock with 225/75/15 tires.... when i first got it it had 33" mudders on it, then we changed them to the stock size, then when those wore out got the 31x10.50/15 bfg A/Ts. the BFG A/Ts have performed the best, even better than the 'stock' tires... i can accellerate faster now than i could with the 'stock' size on. weird huh?
